Council Meeting and Tour

Members enjoy a fascinating presentation on the care that Keystone takes in burning hazardous waste to fuel their kilns.

Thanks to Keystone for a really great meeting! A fabulous lunch was enjoyed by all, followed by a brief business meeting and a very interesting presentation and tour. Minutes will be emailed and appear here shortly.

Council Business and Planning Meeting

Eight members met representing the mining industry, vendors, and government agencies to plan the SE PA Holmes Calendar for 2006. Minutes are in pdf format here. If you have any problem opening the document, please email Randy at renewcomer@rohrers.com Sorry, I got so wrapped up in our enthusiastic discussion that I forgot to snap a photo of participants or the beautiful facility that Independence Construction Materials so graciously allowed us to use in Paradise.

Council Meeting and Picnic

No, Ron Witt didn't wait on tables, but he did do just about everything else to provide us with a perfect event. We'll even give him the credit for the summer weather for our picnic.

Members enjoyed two great presentations and a tremendous oudoor buffet at American Infrastructure's amazing Worcester facility.

American Infrastructure hosted the event at it's state-of-the-art conference room which features comfortable seating, dual presentation screens, and gadgets that allow persons to interact with the speaker and conference with participants at other facilities.

Richard Black of Industrial Scientific provided an informative presentation on the hazards of confined spaces. He demonstrated two of his companies products that measure the dangerous atmospheres of such work spaces. Information was shared on some Southeast PA fatalities that Dick and some members were familiar with.

Jim Petrie, MSHA NE District Manager, spoke on updates in the Northeast and several MSHA Initiatives. He reviewed the two fatalities that have occurred in the District so far this year and discussed an incident that fortunately did not end in a death where activating a remote lock on a truck toolbox ignited acetylene that had leaked inside. Details and pictures are available on the District's accident abstracts online.

At the conclusion of the talks members moved outdoors to enjoy networking and a buffet of salmon, sausage, corn on the cob, salads, and much more. The early summer weather provided a perfect touch to American Infrastructure's beautiful patio.
